Would the M5 be suitable for a center speaker? It would have to lie down (on its side). Would this alter its performance as a center speaker? Would it disperse differntly than the C5 which seems balanced?

It is for size issues, but mainly cost reasons. Can a single M5 be bought?

I am contemplating 3 x M5 + 2 x M4 + S150 or 2 x M5 + C5 + 2 x M4 + S150.

I have M5s as monitors. I wouldn't be inclined to use a third one as a center channel...

They definitely 'disperse' as you say, as a L/R channel speaker, and they don't have the punch I'd expect from a centre.
