Hello All,
I've been waiting for the forums to come back !
I am looking at buying this year a set of TL6's. I do not want veneer at all. I am picky and I like the look of spay pained kits.
I do not know any good spray painters in or around Brisbane. Any one got any recommendations on places to get them pained?
Thanks brendan

I believe LSK would do it for you, for a fee ;)

I did not see anything on there web site. Would be interested to hear from LSK on this. The kit would need to be pre assembled then would it not?
This would be quite painful for shipping I'd expect.
Thanks Brendan

We also offer all of our speakers in a finished range. Finished in a high gloss or satin finish, you can have any colour you like. These are known as our Waplington brand. For example, an M5 kit is $399. Finished and sprayed is $798. Shipping would only be about $50. However when you start talking about towers, they need to be packed by the experts and the cost goes up to around $250. The Loudspeaker Kitspeaker kits so easy your mum could build them!

Thanks for the responce LSK_Scott :) http://waplington.com/ Has not a lot of information on it :) I'd be after a set of TL6's. What’s an aprox cost on a set of painted and finished TL6's. I'd be interested but it comes back to cost. I’d love to have them done by LSK but if cost on a painted set and shipping is close to an extra 900$ kind of makes it very expensive. BUT… I am having a huge amount of time finding a good spray painter. A lot of them seem to be auto only and are NOT interested in some “ wood boxes” as they kindly put it to me. I do like the finish LSK puts on things and I am lazy :) Thanks Brendan

However, if you're are interested, I have a display pair of lightning strike silver TL6's here in the showroom for only $1900 shipped! That is an awesome saving. They are in immaculate condition and come with their full 7 year warranty. The Loudspeaker Kitspeaker kits so easy your mum could build them!

The 900$ was off the top of my head was in no way a reference to anything meaningful :) So a set of TL6's would cost me $1,199 for the kit + $1850 for paint and shipping? I think that’s what you mean. If so that’s $3050.. Looks like I’ll be back to trying to find a local painter. Not meaning to sound cheep, but I kinda of guessed that a large set of speakers would cost an arm and a leg to ship :) Thanks for the offer, but do not want silver :) Brendan

Just a tip, pyrotek - you should get in touch with a sprayer before you assemble your speakers, as they may have some advice on how to glue and finish your speakers for best results. Depending on the painting process you may need to use heat resistant glue - normal PVA won't cut it, unfortunately.

Colin, I had a look at http://waplington.com/home.asp and just loved some finishes. Carbon fibre in particular looked stunning. two questions: 1. What would freight cost for two pairs of M5 speakers finished in a high-gloss deep blue with a black grill shipped here in Adelaide please, and 2. Have you considered doing in wall/in the ceiling either completely recessed or partly recessed speakers . (I am planning a house at the moment and am looking at the whole home automation bells and whistles - including distributed audio) . Cheers, Allan H.

1. Finished M5s in any custom colour are $799/pr, but because you're a forum member we can do free shipping for you. However, Waplington products are not designed to feature grills (as we feel it makes them look too much like furniture - sorry!). 2. Yup, we sell recessed in-ceiling speakers for distributed audio. They range in price from $199/pr to $799/pr. Please give Scott or Aaron a ring if you'd like more information - (08) 9382 8588

Hi pyrotek et al,
Your post was kinda timely... I just got a bunch of my speakers professionally sprayed here in Brisbane; picked them up today in fact! :)
The guy did my M6s, F6s (yep, the ones reviewed on Dansdata.com) and a C6 in a lovely satin black for $500.
Only one small problem... he had a bugger of a time doing it, and isn't interested in doing any more.
It's a pity, because he does superb work, and is a really friendly bloke. I found him by calling a piano shop and asking if they could recommend anyone for painting work (ie, who does the restoration work and so on).
The piano place got back to me with two names - the guy I used who is on the south side, and another guy on the north side who is apparently cheaper (but also isn't as much of a perfectionist).
Anyway I never rang the guy on the northside, but it might be worth giving him a yell - pm me if you like and I will give you his number.
For the record, my speakers were clamped and PVAed, but did have gaps which needed filling and made the job more difficult. So how well you put them together will probably influence how much it costs to get it done. David, the guy who did my speakers, said it would have been easier if they'd been veneered first to cover the joins, but of course that is another expense, and is kinda pointless if you're getting them sprayed black. :)
Cheers, Mark

Thanks for the reply strepto,
You've got PM.
Although I do not like the idea of someone that’s not much of a perfectionist...
Piano shops I'd never though of. There’s one close by so next week I'll go see them. Hopefully they will be helpful.
Thanks for your time Brendan

Hey no worries. PM back at you - good luck with it.
If you do find a good painter in Brisbane, let everyone know. I'm sure there would be a market for it.
BTW the other guy is apparently not AS much of a perfectionist (a bit less worrying) ;)
Cheers, M

Thanks brendan
