The Loud Speaker Kit was previously owned by W Audio Pty Ltd in Perth before closing down. In November, 2012, LSK opened its doors in Melbourne.

LSK is now run by Paul Spencer, avid DIY audio enthusiast, speaker designer and acoustic consultant. Paul is a writer for Hifi Zine and an acoustic consultant and speaker designer with Red Spade Audio.

Our challenge

Our mission is to make a difference in home audio in Australia. We aim to do that by focusing on products that are the most critical in a sound system. We believe that the best improvements are those made with your speakers and room acoustics. This is why we run our business contrary to the trend of ignoring room acoustics. Where possible we like to work with local manufacturers. With acoustic treatment products, this actually turns out to be more cost effective. It's cheaper to manufacture locally than import, due to the high cost of shipping.

Embracing change

The hifi industry has typically been slow to embrace change. This is due to the influence of audio myths and the influence of hifi retail stores. This represents a massive missed opportunity and we intend to change that. The future of audio offers better performance at a lower price.

Making DIY simple

LSK has always been about giving people the satisfaction of DIY effort. It's always satisfying to hear your friends say "I can't believe you actually built your own speakers!" Many of our Dayton products are pre-finished and need less DIY effort. Some only requier some assembly. Our LSK flat pack kits give you the satisfaction of building them without needing a table saw or a full workshop.
